Here are some ways to destroy Credit Cards that have expired or you want to avoid using any more.

Burn the credit card in a fire

This is not environmentally friendly since the burning plastic gives off toxic fumes. But it is the best way to completely destroy the credit card and turn it into carbon.

Shredding Credit Cards

This is an effective way to destroy the credit card since the magnetic strip and all your details are cut up into lots of tiny pieces. It would take a huge amount of effort for somebody to piece together all the fragments assuming they could get hold of them all.

Cutting it up

Using a pair of scissors you can render the credit card useless. This is best for an expired credit card. If it is one that is still valid, throw away the various pieces in a variety of refuse bin locations so nobody can piece it back together easily. Cut down the magnetic swipe strip and then crop the card into random thin slices. Distort and bend the slices too.
